Celts and their influence on modern European cultures
Zavřelová, Barbora ; Dvořáková, Markéta (advisor) ; Županič, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis Celts and their influence on modern European cultures engages in Celtic nations, describes their history and presents remainders of Celtic culture in modern cultures. The thesis is focused on the influence of the Celts on the French region of Brittany and the Czech Republic. It mainly describes the heritage of the Celtic culture in the contemporary society in the form of Druidism, feasts, perception of nature and other traditions. It aims to create a complex image of the Celtic civilization. The second objective of the thesis is to confirm or refute the original connection of the modern Celtic cultural elements on a historical culture of the Celts. It achieves these aims on the basis of analysis, synthesis and subsequent comparison of obtained information about historical and contemporary Celts. The diploma thesis comes to the conclusion that all studied cultural elements have a real historical basis, but most of them, in their modern form, are created artificially. Nevertheless this fact does not detract from the importance of the cultural heritage of the Celts. KEYWORDS Celts, Brittany, the Czech Republic, megaliths, druids, feasts, traditions, cultural heritage of Celts

Koldová, Michaela ; Militký, Jiří (advisor) ; Kysela, Jan (referee)
The main subject of this thesis is a detailed analysis of pre-oppid coin types represented in the monitored region and their interpretation. The thesis also includes a chronological concept of the earliest stages of Celtic coinage (3rd-2nd cent. BC.) and its relationship to the archaeological chronology of the middle of La Tene period. In the first part I describe various pre-oppid types known from Moravia. Subsequently, the thesis deals with production-trading centers (Němčice nad Hanou, Roseldorf, Nowa Cerekwia) in the corridor of the Amber Route. However, the most important part is typological - a chronological overview of coins from the production- trading center Němčice nad Hanou, which is mostly based on catalog of coin findings from newly compiled by E. Kolníková. Keywords: Celts - Coinage - Amber Road - pre-oppid coins - LT C1 - C2 - Moravia

Baudiš, Adam ; Gebelt, Jiří (advisor) ; Kostičová, Zuzana (referee)
This bachelor work deals with the problem of human sacrifice and its goal is to find the reasons for this ritual practice. The work is divided into six parts. First part discusses the problem of human sacrifice among the Aztecs. This chapter is largest because this theme was discussed largely in literature. In this chapter is also given a short essay about the Aztec's practice of ritual violence. Next chapter deals with human sacrifice in the Andas and especialy among the Incas. There you can find also little chapter about iconography of the Incas and about the quechua term huaca. In third part are discussed human sacrifices of the Celts. There is also given a short essay about cult of head which was largely practiced among the Celts. Fourth part deals with some theories about human sacrifice. A commented translation: Germanen: Unterwegs zu höherer Zivilisation (H. Ament: Bibliographisches Institut & F. A. Brockhaus AG, 2001)
Břečková, Jana ; Kloudová, Věra (advisor) ; Drahotová, Markéta (referee)
The topic of this Bachelor Thesis is a translation of a non-fiction text from German and a professional commentary to that translation. The text for the translation was chosen from the internet server www.novaesium.de. It consists of several chapters from the text, the goal of which is to give a brief description of the history of the Germanic peoples. There will be translated all chapters except for chapters II. Die germanischen Stämme, VI. Tracht, Schmuck und Bewaffnung and VIII. Landwirtschaft und Siedlungswesen. The reason for shortening is mainly the extent of the entire text as compared to the extent of the planned Bachelor Thesis. The commentary to the translation is concerned with a translation analysis of the text, that means an analysis of intratextual and extratextual factors according to Ch. Nord, and with a description of the used methods and typologies of translation problems and shifts.
